How cases work

What Sindicato publishes, what stays private, and what you control. This page describes how the platform behaves today.

What a case is

A case is one worker's account of something that went wrong with a company or project: unpaid work, ignored messages, harassment, being removed without a reason, a missing process. It does not have to be illegal. It is written in the worker's own words and attested by them when they file it.

Cases are self-reported. Sindicato does not verify, investigate or endorse them. A case is a report of what a worker says happened, not an established fact.

Cases about the same company are grouped on that company's page and, where workers name a project, on the project's page, so patterns across many reports become visible.

How patterns work

A report is one worker's account of one problem with a company or project: unpaid work, ignored messages, harassment, being removed without a reason, a missing process. It does not have to be illegal to count. Only public reports count toward a company's page.

When 5 different workers report the same thing about the same company or project, it becomes a pattern. Below 5, it is only reported. A company page shows each pattern with how many workers report it and, where workers named a project, whether it mostly happened on one project. Reports are self-reported and not verified, so a pattern means several workers described similar problems, not that Sindicato or a court has confirmed them.

When it goes public

A case goes public when it is published: straight away, or on the date the worker chose, up to 180 days ahead. It stays on the public cases wall until the worker withdraws it or it is taken down.

The public case shows the story the worker wrote, the timeline updates they publish, the company, the country, any amount the worker stated and its currency, and a partially redacted name, for example "K*** M***". A project name appears only when the worker chose to show it and at least 5 workers named the same project.

Your email address is never shown and never shared with the company, with lawyers or with journalists. Messages from companies and lawyers reach you through a contact alias, not your address.

Company notification

The company is told about a case only if the worker chooses that when filing.

When you opt in and we have a verified contact address for the company, they receive an email with a summary of the report: your partially redacted name, your country, the topic, the amount you stated (if you gave one) and its currency, and a link to the public case. Nothing else is shared — not your email address, not your private updates, not your files.

If we have no verified address for the company, nothing is sent.

Report or dispute content

Every case page and company page has a "Report this content" form. Use it for content you think is illegal, defamatory, exposes personal data or is inaccurate. Companies can use the same form to send a notice or a correction.

We review reports as they come in. If you leave an email address we confirm receipt and tell you the outcome; we never publish the address.

Takedown and withdrawal

You can withdraw any of your cases yourself at any time from your account page. It leaves the public wall and company pages at once. Go to your account

The case is removed from the public wall and company pages, AI tags, summaries and cached translations are deleted, and its contact alias is switched off. The story and timeline text, your display name and your email are erased from our database 30 days later. Copies others already made are out of our hands. This cannot be undone.

Cases can also be taken down by Sindicato, for example while a report is reviewed or after a report is upheld. A taken-down case is hidden from the public wall and company pages.

Right of reply for companies

Companies can respond to reports about them for free. Register as a company to see the cases filed against you, reply publicly, and work towards a resolution.

A company can also use the "Report this content" form on its page to send a notice or a correction.
